Why
We're Here
Although
Steve
Goodman died of leukemia in September of 1984, there are many
old and new fans
of Steve and his music who remain interested in knowing
more about him. We
have learned over the years that there exist significant
numbers of recordings of live shows he did, all of which
are on old tapes, often buried in boxes in basements,
perhaps not kept under the best of conditions. The
Steve Goodman Preservation Society was created to be a place to collect and hold
information about those tapes, and to try to preserve
those live performances whenever possible. To the
extent it can be done legally and practically, and with
respect for the quality of the old recordings, the
Steve Goodman Preservation Society also wants to make
those shows available to fans. We
also want to be able to point you toward other
information which might enhance your awareness of the
magic Steve made, and the joy his music brought and
brings to people who take the time to pay attention to
it. If
you want to keep abreast of new things here, and of
other information about Steve, join the Chi-Shorty
E-Mail List right now!! We
don't want to "reinvent" any wheels, so we're
not trying to duplicate the work which has been done in
more detail at The
Steve Goodman Scrapbook, and we encourage
you to visit there to explore. Please
note that this is NOT a commercial site -- no
money will be changing hands here. It is strictly
a labor of love for the music and memory of a great
performer and songwriter. We welcome any suggestions and
comments you might have. |
