*** STEVE GOODMAN TREE ANNOUNCEMENT ***

It’s my great pleasure to be able to announce the sixth in a continuing series of Steve Goodman Preservation Society (SGPS) trees.

This two-CD set contains Steve’s November 1, 1977 broadcast from Atlanta’s Great Southeast Music Hall featuring Jethro Burns.  During this show, Steve performed a number of rarely heard songs including covers of “Rainbow Road,” “Donald and Lydia,” “Mind Your Own Business” and his own “Between the Lines.”  To the best of my knowledge, this set has never circulated before.

Special thanks go out to the individual who recorded this show and shared it with me so I could share it with you.

Thanks also to Russ Locke who, once again, volunteered to create the artwork for this tree.  These discs would not have such an honored place on our shelves if not for his fine work.

You can download Russ' wonderful artwork by clicking HERE.  The artwork requires Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing.  If you need Acrobat Reader, you can download it by clicking HERE.  When printing, please be certain that you do not have a check in the box marked "shrink/reduce to fit page" or the artwork will print too small.

My thanks, as always, to Jug Band champion Don Venne who created and maintains the Steve Goodman Preservation Society web site you’re currently viewing.  Without his contributions, you’d be staring at a blank page.

Signup directions for this tree appear below the following set list information.

This tree requires two CD's for Audio/WAV.   If you are trading in SHN, please inquire from your branch to learn if it is 1 or 2 SHN discs.

To sign up for this TREE, please read the following and respond TO THE ADDRESS PROVIDED BELOW, in the FORMAT requested.

Firstly, if you are not already familiar with how trees work, please click on the "Trading Trees" link on the left.  Virtually all of your trading and tree questions will be answered there.

Please Note: There will be a SHN branch for this Tree.  Branches that sign up for SHN MUST agree to burn AUDIO/WAV CD’s for their branches.  If you will not accept these terms, sign up as a SHN leaf.  For those of you who are not familiar with the meaning of SHN, do not be concerned – just sign up as an AUDIO/WAV branch or leaf.  AUDIO/WAV discs can be played on virtually any CD player.  SHN discs must first be decoded and converted.  I will do my best to accommodate all SHN requests, but cannot guarantee that everyone who signs up for SHN will end up on that portion of the tree.

In order to maintain the best possible quality as far out as possible, I am asking you to adhere to these guidelines:

To sign up as a BRANCH for this tree, you MUST be able to extract and burn DAO, both GLITCH-FREE and GAP-FREE.  (Exact Audio Copy -- EAC -- is an excellent program for this purpose. See the link at "Trading Trees" for more info.)  If you cannot burn glitch-free and gap-free copies or do not understand these terms, you must sign up as a leaf.  All branches must agree to accept B+P if trades are not available from your leaves.

To sign up as a BRANCH, send an e-mail to:  SGoodmanArchive@aol.com

In that e-mail, use the following subject line: "STEVE GOODMAN TREE - BRANCH" and include the following information IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT (separated by commas as shown) within the body copy (see example):

your name, your e-mail address, your country, your state/province, your Zip/Postal code, SHN or AUDIO/WAV,  # of leaves you agree to burn copies for

Your final e-mail should look something like this:

SUBJECT:

STEVE GOODMAN TREE - BRANCH

MESSAGE COPY:

"John Smith, jsmith@aol.com, USA, NY, 10010, AUDIO/WAV, 5 leaves"

If you are signing up as a LEAF for this tree, you agree to trade or B+P with your branch (please allow your branch the option, if available).

Sign up for this tree will remain open for approximately 1 week from the date of this notice.

WE NEED MATERIAL -- PLEASE:  If you have any tapes of Steve's unreleased live performances -- be they concerts, radio interviews or performance broadcasts -- that you'd be willing to share with the Steve Goodman Preservation Society Archive, please click on the "I've Got Tapes!!" link to the left.  There are still an awful lot of shows we have yet to locate in decent quality, and the more we locate, the more we can make available to all.
